Kate
Green studied Fine Art at Ottawa University and then continued and
finished her Bachelor of Fine Art at the University of Toronto.
She also obtained an Art and Design Diploma from Sheridan College,
Oakville, and took further training at KLC School for Interior Design
in London, England. She started her art career in the commercial
fields of Graphic Design and Illustration. While living in England
in the late 1990's, she opened an Interior Design company - Cocoon.
Kate
was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2002 and the symptoms from this
illness forced her to give up her Interior Design company in 2005.
Returning to her true loves of nature and painting, has managed
to cure an illness that she was told was incurable.
Kate
began painting commissioned paintings in 2006, mainly of dogs, and
has now completed over 100 dog portraits. Recently Kate has expanded
her commissions to include portraits of horses and people. She also
paints non-commissioned work of domestic and wild animals, nests
and the natural world.
Kate began painting dogs after finding a dog starving to death on
a country road. So saddened that anyone could allow this to happen
to such a beautiful animal, a painting seemed a suitable way to
honour Pepper - now one of Kate's own very loved dogs.
Kate
has a well-trained eye for modern realist painting. Each of Kate's
paintings show a refined sensitivity and a fresh, modern interpretation.
Through her portraits, it is evident that Kate has a deep respect
for the individual character of every subject.
Kate
lives on the beautiful Rideau River, near Burritt's Rapids, Ontario,
with her husband, two sons, and three dogs.
