Acrylics and Canvas Type
Acrylic paintings are done on 1.5" deep gallery canvases.
The sides of these canvases are always finished.There is no need to frame your painting - they look great as they are but if you would like to frame your painting, regular canvases are available. Please specify when ordering.
There are many size options listed in the chart at the bottom of the page. Some subjects will not work on certain sizes of canvas - eg: large dogs or horses on 12" x 12" - this size is reserved for close portraits of people or small animal subjects. Sizes which are not listed in the pricing chart are available, but not in the deep canvas. If you want other sizes that are not listed, the painting will be done on a regular canvas.

Portraits of People
If you are interested in a portrait of a person, please call me at 613-258-6947 as the photographic requirements are quite specific to make a good painting. A photo shoot with a very good photographer is usually required. I work with an excellent one. There may be an additional charge for each additional person or animal in a painting, this depends on the size of the canvas and complexity of the composition. I will supply you with a quote once I see the photograph(s) and know your canvas size preference.

Guarantee
If you are not happy with the final painting, return it and I will give you a complete refund.
I want you to be thrilled with your painting. I would hate to think of someone buying a painting from me that they didn't love.
If I feel that I can not do a successful painting for you (for example the photos are not clear enough), I will tell you before you put a down payment on the painting. It is as important to me to do a great job as it is to you. I will also recommend the correct size of canvas for your painting and may refuse to do certain paintings on a specific sizes requested.

Payment
You may pay by personal cheque or PayPal. Please see below for the payment schedule under "The Process". Click on the PayPal logo at the top of the page to use PayPal.

Delivery Time
Delivery time is discussed when you make your initial enquiry.
When I can complete your painting depends on my work load at the time of your order. Please give me as much lead time as possible if you are buying a painting for a birthday gift etc. I begin taking Christmas orders as early as the summer. Gift Certificates are available if my painting line up is too long to meet the date you need. A painting usually takes 3-6 weeks from the date that I give you as your start date.

Shipping
Commissions are accepted internationally.
The finished painting is sent to you, by UPS or Canada Post, carefully packaged. Shipping costs are extra.
This amount depends on where I am sending your painting to. I will find out the shipping costs after your first inquiry, and get that information to you before I send the aggreement contract.

The Process
If you are commissioning a painting I need good, clear photos to work from.
The more you have, the better.
You can email jpegs but please send small files first - I will look through them and then request which photos I would like as large files.

Please specify your favourite photos, and why they are your favourites.
Tell me all that you can about the subject of the painting so that I can incorporate his or her personality into the painting.

After you have sent your photos to me -
I will call or email you about composition, canvas size and delivery date and then email or mail an aggreement contract to you. This specifies size of painting, date of delivery, delivery charges, tax if applicable etc.

After you have looked this over, please sign the painting aggreement and return it with a cheque made out to Kate Green for a 50% deposit on the painting.

When the painting is finished -
I will email or mail an invoice for the other 50% of the painting's cost.
I will send your painting immediately on receipt of the second payment sent as either a cheque or via PayPal.

Painting Size Requirements eg:Two Dogs in One Painting
A full body view of a Great Dane will not work on a 16" x 16" canvas for example, but a close crop of a Dane's head could. Depending on the composition and view of what is being painted I will make recommendations for the right size of canvas.
The minimum size canvas for two dogs in the same painting is 20" x 24" (rectangular format)
or 24" x 24" (square format).
Horses require a larger canvas size. They work best on the large canvases - 30" x 30" and up.
Minimum canvas for a horse is 15" x 30".
Minimum size for people is the 12" x 12" but done as a close face crop.
Sizes of canvases are discussed with clients prior to any commitment by the client.

Please see the chart below for pricing. PST is additional for Ontario residents.
Shipping is extra. Delivery in the Ottawa area has no additional charge.
